One is Silver and the Other’s Gold – Lemon Cake

“Make new friends and keep the old, one is silver and the other’s gold!” – so goes the song we used to sing in Girl Scouts…

Today I baked a traditional lemon cake with a new friend that I met this very day, and together we used a recipe that is old as time and was passed down to me by a very dear friend. So here’s to old friends, and to new ones!!! cheers!

Lemon Cake

3 eggs
(150 g) sugar
(200 g) flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder (1 sachet levure chimique)
1 stick (125 g) butter
2 lemons

Beat the eggs and the sugar together.
Add half of the flour mixed with the baking powder.
Add the melted butter.
Add the rest of the flour.
Wash the lemons, zest them, and juice them.
Add the lemon zest and juice.
Pour the batter into a buttered loaf pan and put it in the oven at 180° for 30 – 40 min.
