We set up a table on a sidewalk, pile it high with Bibles and let all who pass by serve themselves.
Smiles, coffee and chocolate often accompany our presence to encourage people to stop and chat about faith and life.
But you will see no pressure, no debates, no heckling. Those outdated methods, if they ever worked before my time, would certainly have a reverse effect in the culture where we work.
Did you know that one out of every four Parisians wish they had someone to discuss spiritual things with over coffee?
Opposition is high, obstacles are many, and faith is taboo with family and friends. So yeah, finding a safe place where you can discuss spiritual questions without getting mocked, is, in itself, a precious gift.
This fun concept get’s incorporated into our love for Obscure Holidays Celebration of Light Reformation Day event (which also falls on Halloween).
