This year we offered lots of Bibles to university students, and we had a volunteer team of students at the table. They are great publicity for Jesus : young, bright, happy, cool kids just hanging out at the Bible table waiting to make a new friend. We are encouraging them to dive into new relationships like they do with their best friends… Ask how life is going. Take their needs to heart and to the Lord. Ask delicately, “When we have needs we pray and ask God to intervene, do you have anythings we can pray for you? Let’s pray now.” Then follow up with, “Was that okay? How do you feel about that prayer?” Genuine concern for a new friend solidifies the relationship and opens hearts to seeking lasting community.
