When we discovered that the French national holiday, the 14th of July, fell on a Saturday the year we got married, we couldn’t resist the pun. There will always be fireworks on our anniversary!
Here in Dijon they celebrate with a big fireworks display over the lake. I organized a gourmet picnic at a park overlooking the lake. We showed up early to reserve our spots and Cupcake enjoyed playing on the playground. Some friends showed up closer to dinner time and joined in on the festivities. Cupcake slept in her totally awesome stroller and woke up five minutes before the big fireworks. She LOVED them. It was so fun watching the sky light up and her face glow in excitement. Then she fell back to sleep as we strolled leisurely home enjoying the cool summer evening. This was the perfect day.
